North of Kuala Lumpur stand the mountainous, jungle-clad and chilly hill stations of the Cameron Highlands, Fraser’s Hill and Genting Highlands in Pahang. Lying on the Banjaran Titiwangsa mountain range, it’s a largely unsettled area apart from some indigenous villages but its hill stations are popular with tourists. Cameron Highlands is known for its strawberry farms and tea plantations and Genting Highlands is the gaming and entertainment hub of the northern peninsula. Accommodation choices are relatively varied – Genting is known as the site of the world’s fourth-largest hotel (by rooms) and Cameron is popular for its old-English style resorts.
