Cherating Shopping

Cherating is a relatively undeveloped village but that’s half of its appeal – there aren’t many businesses here but as the years go by its tourism sector has been contributing to its steady growth. A major node on the backpacker trail, there aren’t many stores here – as it happens, the wide expanse of sandy shoreline dominates Cherating’s landscape so you’re not likely to find retail bargains. In fact if you’re looking for local handicrafts like batik and Malay delicacies, then the roads leading up to the beach are the place to head to. Alternatively you should stopover at the Kemaman pasar malam (night market) on Thursday nights for souvenirs and other merchandise.
