    The most popular of the three hill stations located on the western side of the Banjaran Titiwangsa mountain range, Genting Highlands is different from its sister hillside retreats. Where Cameron Highlands’ and Fraser’s Hill’s offerings focus almost exclusively on cool jungle treks, waterfalls and agricultural farms, Genting Highlands awes visitors with its high rise hotels, shopping arcades and restaurants. There’s an exclusive golf course and a theme park (Genting Theme Park) but most visitors come here to frequent the only casino (Casino de Genting) in the country.

     

Currently undergoing extensive renovations, Genting Grand is a 5-star hotel featuring air con rooms with attached bathrooms, flat-screen TVs in the room and bathroom, DVD players and walk-in wardrobes. Hotel facilities are limited – there’s no pool – but there are butler services, a grand ballroom, meeting rooms, a convention hall, business centre, restaurant and bar. The largest hotel in the world until The Palazzo (an extension of The Venetian in Las Vegas) was opened in January 2008 the three-star First World Hotel is a high-rise establishment adjacent to the First World Plaza (a 500,000sqft shopping complex which plays host to an indoor theme park). The property features 6,118 compact and carpeted air con rooms with attached bathrooms; hotel facilities are limited – there’s no pool – but it’s close to a variety of tourist attractions including the Arena of Stars.
