Genting Highlands Shopping

Genting Highlands is a mountain peak destination on the apex of the Banjaran Titiwangsa mountain range. This tourist-friendly hilltop city decked out Vegas-style is the perfect way to enjoy a weekend near Kuala Lumpur. Even though this charming hill station has an abundance of resorts and hotels and features the First World Hotel – which was listed as the world's largest hotel in 2006 by the Guinness World Book of Records – getting a room here during the weekends can be difficult as the resort is usually swarming with twice as many punters than rooms.

Each of the big hotels has retail outlets that sell souvenirs, candy and handicrafts but if you’re looking to do some serious retail therapy, Genting Highlands has a few stores that should occupy your time but shopaholics would be better off getting bargains in the Kuala Lumpur city centre.

Country's Tid-Bits & Candies Cottage

Located at the Genting Skyway Station at Gohtong Jaya, this store sells an assortment of titbits from preserved fruits, nuts, cookies, sweets, jelly beans, biscuits to crackers. The eye-catching multihued candies and local snacks are piled onto tables to resemble mini-mountains; prices are not exactly cheap but the wide range of sweets available will make sure you’re sweet tooth cravings will be satisfied.

Cultural Village

Selling merchandise that ranges from Asian handicrafts, souvenirs and gifts, the Cultural Village comprises 12 stalls representing different countries and their unique items. The Japanese dolls as well as the beads and accessories from India are a good bargain and the Korean snacks are especially tasty.

First World Plaza

Located within the First World Hotel, First World Plaza is home to the Genting Indoor Theme Park; the area is a colourful mixture of retail stores and raucous theme park rides. You can choose to shop at the numerous vendors that sell souvenirs and handicrafts while you enjoy the sight of people having fun in the theme park or even just window shop while enjoying snacks from the various kiosks.

Gift Castle

Located at the Genting Hotel nearby the Indoor Theme Park, this small yet interesting gift shop offers a wide range of items. If you’re in the market for kitschy souvenirs or joke merchandise then this is the place to shop at when you’re up on this mountain top destination.

Lovely Lace

This little store is a franchise that sells teddy bear-themed furniture, knick knacks, gifts and a host of other assorted items in varying shades of white. The store smells like a dewberry-laden haven and by far the best merchandise here are the scented fragrant oils which are sold at quite a bargain.

Nike

This is probably the best store in Genting Highlands. Selling Nike sporting apparel and footwear, this store has some pretty good bargains and foot apparel are especially reasonably priced; the only downside is the fact that they’re not really the latest designs but really at these prices who’s complaining?

Sinma Jewellery

With a vast array of headbands, earrings, necklaces, nail polish, make-up products, rings, bracelets and a host of other feminine appendages, this large pink-themed store is a good place to grab more than a few of those hair and body accessories at reasonable prices.

ToyCity

This immense store has a huge array of toys for kids that are sure to entertain them for an hour or two. It’s the perfect place to go if you’re looking for a little in-room hotel entertainment to keep the kids busy while you enjoy some quiet time in front of the TV.
